Genevieve Modeen August 18, 1928 - June 4, 2022 Rock Hill, South Carolina - Genevieve "Gen" Dzimidas Modeen, loving mother and grandmother, died on June 4, 2022 at Chandler Place Assisted Living and Memory Care after a brief illness. She was born August 18, 1928 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Gen is survived by her daughter, Victoria "Vicki" (Donald) Hamel; grandsons: Steven, Brian, and Kevin Hamel; Douglas and David Getman; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 68 years, Carl D. Modeen; daughters Lynn Getman Duff and Mary Ellen Matulunas; sisters Aldona Komacki and Bertha (Ronnie) Voltaire. She was the daughter of Anthony Dzimidas and Magdelena (Jesson) Dzimidas. Gen was the youngest of three daughters, born to immigrant parents. Only ten years old when her mother passed away, she was raised by her loving father. At 18, she met the love of her life and spent the next 66 years with him, until his death. Gen was an avid reader and a literacy volunteer at the library. She worked for many years at the First Federal Bank in Waterbury, Connecticut. She moved to Rock Hill, South Carolina in 2003 and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Friends will be received by family at the home of Brian and Erin Hamel, 910 Myrtle Drive on June 6, 2022 between 5-7pm.
