Genevieve Howell, age 95 of Camarillo, CA went home peacefully to be with the Lord on June 15, 2018.
Genevieve was born Genevieve Osman in Gnadenhutten, OH on July 26, 1922. If you think that's a mouthful, she graduated from High School in Tuscarawas County. On September 7, 1943, she graduated from Grant Hospital School of Nursing. To her friends in nursing school and to her husband, she was known as "Curly Shirley" but the name didn't stick with her childhood friends and family.
Genevieve married the love of her life, Roy M. Howell, on December 20, 1952. She is survived by her loving husband, Roy; son, Roy "Mickey" Howell Jr. (Gina); daughter, Linda Susan Howell (Bud Horowitz); grandsons, Eric Howell, Seth Horowitz and Ben Howell; and granddaughter, Ellie Howell.
Genevieve and her family moved to Camarillo in 1966. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Her family sleeps warm and comfortable under the many quilts she lovingly stitched with her good friends from the UMW (United Methodist Women).
The family wants to express their deepest appreciation for the loving care of Hilton, Jean and Judith Williams who made Genevieve comfortable, both physically and spiritually, the last year of her life.
She will be most remembered as a devoted, loving and patient wife, mother and grandmother. The matriarch and host of every holiday and birthday as far back as we can remember, her example and legacy of love and patience will continue to hold our family close for generations to come. To name all the people who cared for her would be impossible. Her love was pure, powerful and was felt by all those that were blessed by her presence.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1pm at the Chapel of the Hills at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park with interment and reception to follow in the same location.
