Mrs. Geneva B. Ross, 78 of South Bend, IN entered Heavenly rest on May 13, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the union of John and Ethel Boarders on March 21, 1943 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. At an early age Geneva accepted Christ and was Baptized at Wall Baptist Church. She would later relocate to South Bend, IN looking for better opportunities for her family. She fell in love with Second Baptist Church; and called it her home church for over fifty years; under the leadership of the late Rev. Samuel Chase Jr. and current presiding Rev. Andre' Wells Sr. After graduating from Sam Belkin High School, she continued her studies in health care. At an early age she married Joe. W Sutherland. They later relocated to Chicago, IL. And later South Bend, IN and had 5 beautiful children. After years of marriage they parted ways and Geneva fell in love with the late Ellis Ross whom proceeded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Geneva retired from Memorial Hospital Housekeeping after over 35 years of dedicated service. After Ellis passing, Geneva and Joe Sutherland Sr. were blessed to be reunited In 2001 and they made the best of their golden years side by side. If you knew Geneva, then you knew she was straight forward to the point kind of person, with a whole lot of love and sugar on top. Everybody was "baby" and don't think you was gonna say hi, without given her some sugar. Her spirit brought joy, peace and laughter to the darkest of rooms. She was the type of person who saw the good in people even if they couldn't see it. She had wisdom for multiple generations. She left this world a better place than it was before she arrived and heaven has gained its Angel back. Those left to celebrate her legacy are: Five beautiful children: Carl (Lucille) Sutherland of Okinawa Japan; Thea Butler of Chicago, IL; Ernestine Taylor, Joe Sutherland and Richard (Cathy) Sutherland all of South Bend, In. And 13 Grand children. Sean (Adriane) Sutherland, Lawanda Richardson, TaMisha Butler, Cleora Taylor, Willie Taylor, Carl Taylor, Saria Jackson, Zion Connor, Bryanna Cane, Alexander D.
