Mrs. Hughes had a great love for her family and friends. Before her illness she provided child care for several area children. Her love for animals was greatly known as she would take in strays of all kinds that were dropped off at her house.
She loved to can vegetables and fruits that she and her husband grew each year. She enjoyed all types of flowers, and both those inside and outside of her home gave her much pleasure.
Carol was a faithful Christian and a member of Bethel Grace Baptist Church in Lancing. She loved her church family so much. Several of her friends called her "Spider," a nickname given to her years ago.
