Geneva "Ginny" Glanton, 88, formerly of Shelbyville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022.
She was born April 1, 1934 in Mount Carmel, Kentucky to Clarence Fearin and Etta Violet (Doyle) Fearin. She graduated from Flemingsburg High School in 1952. She met James Warren Glanton from Dayton, Ohio on a Potomac River boat ride during her Senior High School trip to Washington, DC., where he asked her for a stick of Wrigley Spearmint gum. They were married on November 14, 1953, at the United Brethren Church in Dayton, Ohio. She worked at Master Electric in Dayton, Ohio. They had four children: Patricia, Dennis (deceased), Julie, and Joseph. They moved from Dayton, Ohio to Indianapolis in 1959.
Ginny was self-employed in the family business at Glanton Pump and Supply where she retired. She loved volunteering her time as a Sunday school teacher and spent a lot of time helping in the organization, Gideons International. She was a member of Hopes Point Church in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, 2017, and son, 2005. She is survived by her children: Patricia (Tom) Mink, Julie (Jeff) Hiatt, Joseph (Christy Doan) Glanton, and grandchildren: Sarah Mink, Kelly Hickman, Danielle Hiatt (Charles) Schnake, Audrey Hiatt, Madelyn Glanton, Kailyn Glanton, Tyler Glanton, and great-grandchildren: Keegan Taylor, and Ransom Schnake, and her brother: June (Nancy) Fearin.
Visitation will be Monday, September 5, 2022 from 10am until 11:30am at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
Funeral services will be at 11:30am Monday, September 5, 2022 at the funeral home with Rev. Greg Abert officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
