General Webb, Jr. 81, of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, was born on September 27, 1940, the son of the late General and Reba Miracle Webb, and passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a Military Police Officer in Germany. He was a longtime member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon and Treasurer. He was Past Master and Secretary of Shawanee Masonic Lodge #546, Past Patron of Shawanee Chapter #346 and Treasurer of Tazewell #232 Order of the Eastern Star Lodges. General was also a Trustee for the Chumley Cemetery and served on the Board of the Cumberland Gap Tennessee Genealogy Group. General had a 40-year cherished relationship with David Fields and all his work family at D&D Hose and Supply in Knoxville, where he counted his customers as friends.
In addition to his parents, General was preceded in death by his brother, W.M. Webb; father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Betsy Adams; and brother-in-law, John Adams.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joan Webb of Cumberland Gap, TN; daughter, Kim France and husband, Vernon of Maynardville, TN; grandson, Nathan Grandey of Maynardville, TN; sister, Gracie Lyttek of Springfield, VA; special family, Della Crawford, Evelyn Cobb, Teresa and Sarah Adams, Tommy, Amanda, Madison and Ryan Donahue, Matthew France and a host other family members and friends.
The family Would also like to express their appreciation to Dr. Hitesh Mahta and the staff at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for their excellent care of General and their kindness and compassion for the family. Also, their special thanks go to Dr. Lawrence Hookman and the staff at Hookman Cardiology.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16 at the Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel with Rev. David Fuson, Jr., Rev. Richard Barnett, and Rev. Mike Humfleet. Music will be by Providence Missionary Baptist Church and Mr. Garry Tucker. Masonic rites will be given by Shawanee Masonic Lodge #546. Burial will follow in the Chumley Cemetery with Nathan Grandey, Vernon France, Ray Paul, Michael Ayers, Rob Redwine and Jimmy Liford all serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Providence Missionary Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Harrogate, Odell Keene, Fred Dixon, and Charles McMurry.
The family suggests that contributions in General's memory be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
