Gene Comstock Garn, born on January 9, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio, died on June 30, 2022 at Ohio Living Rockynol Assisted Living Center in Akron, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph R. Comstock and Florence L. Comstock, and her husband of 66 years, Robert A. Garn. Mrs. Garn was a graduate of Devilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio, and attended Ohio University where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity, majored in music, and met Mr. Garn. They lived for many years in Columbus, Ohio and Western Springs, Illinois before retiring to the Helena- Fremont area of Ohio. They were very active in the Congregational/United Church of Christ denominations of these areas. Over the years, Mrs. Garn's homes were always filled with the results of her expert skills in needlecrafts, including needlepoint, crewel work, and knitting. Relatives and friends were also grateful recipients of her craft work. She was also a fantastic pie baker, one of her many culinary specialties and especially appreciated by her sons-in-law. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Garn was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary L. Nunn of Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Garn Nunn of Akron, Ohio and Sandra Garn Manson (Ronald) of Oxford, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandsons, Brad Elder (Dakota) of Buffalo, NY and Derek Garn Manson of Los Angeles, CA. A private interment in Toledo will be held at a later date. The family extends special thanks to the Rockynol nurses and aides who treated Gene with such special care during her residence there.
