Geen Giese Wilkins passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. Geen was born in Edinburg, Texas on October 2, 1944, to Fredrick Giese and Margaret Anna Bryan Geise. Geen was raised in Elsa, Texas along with her three sisters Gale, Geri and Gill. She graduated from Elsa High School where she was the Homecoming Football Sweetheart, was later crowned All Valley Football Sweetheart her senior year and was also The Duchess of Oleander in the Texas Citrus Fiesta.
Geen married Thomas Wayne Wilkins from McAllen, Texas on February 22, 1964, and left immediately for Waco, Texas for Tom to attend Law School. She was the youngest member of the Law Wives Club where she learned to play bridge which became a passion she enjoyed with many friends during her lifetime.
After Law School graduation in 1966, Geen and Tom immediately moved back to McAllen where both of their families have over a Century of History in Hidalgo County. Upon returning to McAllen, Geen graduated from Pan American University with her degree in Education.
Geen was very active in the McAllen community. For several years she ran a pre-school called Kiddie Garden and is still affectionately called "Miss Geen" today by students that attended her school. She later attended the Gemological Institute of America where she attained certification as a Certified Diamond appraiser. She owned and operated her jewelry business "Accents Unlimited" for many years. Geen was also involved in various community service organizations, some of which include The McAllen Junior Service League, where she served as President and was instrumental in the creation and publication of its first cookbook, "La Pi?ata". She also chaired "Collage" in 1987, McAllen International Museum's major fundraiser and was a Past-President of her P.E.O. chapter.
Geen and Tom raised three sons, Kenneth (Julie), Mark (CC) and Timothy (Rachel), all of whom reside in McAllen. Geen and Tom were ardent supporters of their children and ten grandchildren. Meagan, Thomas (Phoebe), Jordan, Mark, Travis, Emma, Bryan, Carson, Dylan and Hunter brought her such joy and pride. Geen rarely missed an event involving any of her grandchildren and supported all of them in their various activities.
Geen was the epitome of elegance with an adventurous spirit. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and was known to have two separate makeup bags as she was always ready to travel on a moment's notice. She enjoyed traveling the world with Tom and some of her favorite places were Monte Carlo, Italy, Russia and Las Vegas.
Geen is survived by her husband Tom, sister Gill Carter (Will), her three sons and their wives and her ten grandchildren. The family would also like to recognize and thank her caregivers Maribel Ibarra, Lupita Carsmco, Stephanie Chapa, Gabbiee Marez and Dolly Garza. The family would also like to recognize and thank Dr. Carrie Carter along with UT Southwestern Medical Center.
There will be a Celebration of Geen's Life at McAllen Country Club on Thursday, February 13th, 2025, from 3 to 5pm.
