Gary Christopher Sloat, 54, of Palm City, FL, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, unexpectedly.
Gary is a native Canadian, born to Arnold Sloat and Sophie (nee Kotch) Sloat but maintains his dual citizenship with the United States.
Gary had a nickname of "Sloaty" to his good friends. He was a true machinist, second to none. He was the long-time owner of NAPA Auto Parts and developed its machine shop. Some of his hobbies were building and repairing engines, riding motorcycles, constructing model airplanes and helicopters. He also enjoyed cooking, Sunday breakfasts, shooting guns, souping up all of his vehicles, and going fast. Gary was a member of the NRA and was a proud MAGA man. However, his most favorite love was being a devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kim Sloat of Palm City, FL, daughter Danielle (Steven) Wacker of Stuart, FL; daughter Alexis Sloat and her daughter Kaleha Kimberly Chen both of Port St. Lucie, FL; his father Arnold Sloat of Stuart, FL, and sisters Sandra Bryla of Conroe, TX, Rebecca Davies of Stuart, FL, Sherry Sloat of Palm City, FL and brother Wayne Sloat of Stuart, FL. Gary was predeceased in death by his mother Sophie Sloat.
A Celebration of Gary's Life will be on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Stuart Chapel of Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, 961 S. Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994 with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.
