Garry McLean Shifflett, 70, of Rappahannock Academy, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020.
He was born September 8, 1950, in Charlottesville, Virginia, son of Mattie Etta Graves Shifflett and the late Reese Elmer Shifflett.
In addition to his father, Garry was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Stuart Shifflett; brother-in-law, Roy Turner.
Garry is survived by his mother, Mattie E. Shifflett of Rappahannock Academy, Virginia; brothers, Kenneth Shifflett and his wife, Joyce of Luray, Virginia and Eddie Shifflett and his wife, Rose of Lancaster, Ohio; sisters, Pat Turner of Grey Court, South Carolina, and Debbie Green and her husband, David of Rappahannock Academy, Virginia; sister-in-law, Brenda Shifflett of Gordonsville, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his very special great-niece, Emma.
Garry was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years. He was not one to ask for help from others, he had the kindest and most generous heart and always went out of his way to take care of those he loved. Garry will most be remembered for the pride he took in his workmanship and how protective he was over his mother, sisters, and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 P.M. Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Stanardsville Cemetery with Pastor Dustin Carson officiating.
