Gary W. Preston, 82, of Longview passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020. A time of fellowship and visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Gary was born August 15, 1937 in Winnsboro TX to parents Tom and Myrtle Preston. He attended Marshall School, graduating in 1955. He then joined the United States Air Force.
Gary was a Baptist. He was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church in Marshall, then Macadonia Baptist Church in Longview. Gary was a dedicated employee of Texas Eastman for 37 years from 1960 until 1997.
Gary enjoyed football but was an avid NASCAR fan. He usually wouldn't be found at home; instead he would spend as much time as possible traveling either on his Harley, or on cruises. Gary loved life and found that seeing the world was the best way to exemplify that joy.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Myrtle Preston and his son, Todd Preston. Those left to cherish their memories of Gary include his children Penny Dikes and her significant other Rodney Walden, Chuck Preston and his wife Debbie and Rhonda Ramsey and her husband Charlie; grandchildren Andria Dikes, Jacob Preston, Kirsten Page and Cody Wheeler; and great-grandchild Liam Preston.
