Gary J. Potter

Gary J. Potter, age 83, of Watertown, formerly of Montello, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 30, 2022, at Highland House in Watertown, WI.

Gary Jesse Potter was born in Antigo, WI on Dec. 28, 1938 to Arlan and Grace (Beattie) Potter. Gary married Carol (McCann) on June 27, 1959 at the First Lutheran Church in West Allis, WI, and together they raised their two sons in Milwaukee. They moved to Montello from Waterford in 2004. Gary is survived by his two brothers: Arlan Potter and Jeff Potter; two sons: Kevin (Lauri) of Lebanon and Timothy of Waukesha; as well as five grandchildren: Jessica, Kimberly (Kyle), Traci (Alex), Andrew (Ashley) and Lisa (Tim). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Natali, Elli, Veronica, Miranda, Eivin, Nixon, Monroe and Amelia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol in 2012.



Gary proudly served 30 years as a police officer in Milwaukee. He enjoyed golfing and hunting in the Montello area, and winters down in Gulf Shores, AL.



A celebration of life and private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Highland House (125 Hospital Drive #A, Watertown, WI 53098) or to the Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer, (P.O. Box 91 Westfield, WI 53964).
