Gary Lee Perkins was born November 08, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Clifford A. Perkins Sr. and Mary Ann Perkins, nee Turk.
He attended Rosedale High School in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating class of 1973. After high school Gary joined the United States Airforce, serving from 1973-1977 as a senior airman. After his time in the Airforce, Gary spent his career at Farmers Insurance in Overland Park. After retirement, Gary worked several seasons for the National Parks Department in Yellowstone National Park. The work provided him with the opportunity to explore the wonders of Yellowstone. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for photography. He took many stunning photos of the wildlife in Yellowstone.
Gary did not take life too seriously, he did what he enjoyed and did not live by others’ expectations. He had many friends, enjoyed bowling, and going to the casino, and in the last few years, his Saturdays were often spent running a baseball card booth at the local swap and shop!
Gary is survived by two children, Shelly Perkins and Brandon Perkins of Pittsburg, Kansas, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, his sister Marija Fitzpatrick of Osawatomie, Kansas, his brothers Clifford Perkins Jr. and wife Ginger of Venice, Florida, Robert Perkins of Bennettsville, South Carolina and Dennis Perkins of Sarasota, Florida; as well as many nephews and nieces.
