Gary D. Weldy, 77, of South Bend, passed away at his home on Friday, July 9th.
Gary was born on March 22, 1944, in LaPorte, IN to the late Paul R. and Catherine R. (Roush) Weldy. On September 2, 1967 in Mishawaka, IN he married Evelyn M. Rospopo. Evelyn survives along with their daughter, Dianne S. Dhaeze of South Bend, sons, John P. Weldy of South Bend and James N. Weldy of Mishawaka along with grandchildren: Zak, Katie, Cody, Alana, Kyle and Kade, and great-grandchildren: Liam, Madison and Brayden. Gary is also survived by his sisters: Janice Bella of South Bend and Sharon Clingenpeel of North Liberty.
Gary was retired from Zikowski Construction as a Union carpenter. In his free time, he enjoyed model trains, fishing, hunting, woodworking and being with his loving family and friends. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local 413 and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka.
Visitation for Gary will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel" located at 23421 State Road 23/West Ireland Road, South Bend from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 15th 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 South Mill Street, Mishawaka at 11:00 A.M. with Father Christopher Lapp officiating. Burial to follow the at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions be made in Gary's name to Pet Refuge,
