Garrett Copley Townes, age 25, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2021, in Conroe, Texas. He was born on April 26, 1996, in Webster, Texas, and grew up in Spring, Texas. Garrett attended Klein ISD and graduated from Klein High School in 2014. Garrett had an amazing sense of humor and could brighten a room with his gregarious personality, big smile, and expressive blue eyes. Garrett was a beloved son and brother who would do anything or the people he loved. Garrett was a sweet child who grew up to be a generous, kind, and loving young man.
While attending college, Garrett began working at Volt Power Company. Garrett quickly earned the position of Foreman, serving along with his first crew as a first responder during storms and electrical outages all over the southern United States. He was knowledgeable, dependable, loyal, and well-respected by his coworkers. In 2020, Garrett was able to fulfill one of his many goals by purchasing his first home in Coldspring, Texas. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter and loved traveling to new places. Garrett enjoyed improving his carpentry skills, and he was always building something new. He was also very mechanically inclined and could fix almost anything, including his older model Ford truck that he enjoyed working on. Garrett was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Christa Castine Townes, Trevor Garrett Townes; and his sister, Abigail Aileen Townes. He also leaves his paternal grandmother Gail Edmonston, and step-grandfather, Donald Edmonston-of Brenham, Texas; paternal step-grandmother, Shirley Steeley Townes of Austin; maternal grandmother, Cleta Rivers, and step-grandfather, Guy Rivers of Willis, Texas; he is also survived by an extended family of many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as Cooper, his Labrador. Garrett is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, "Gundaddy" John Charles Townes, IV, and maternal grandfather, "Pawpaw" Jerry Edward Castine.
A visitation for Garrett will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 5pm to 7pm at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E. White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas, 77304. A celebration of Life will occur Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 10am at Metcalf Funeral Directors, with a burial at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas at 2:30pm
