Garlon "Tex" Dwayne Jackson passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was born on April 14, 1946 in Erick Oklahoma to Henry and Lois (Downs) Jackson.
He was a Vietnam combat veteran. He served with A Company, 1st Battalion, 77 Armor, 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division, "MECH", 1968-1969. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Valorous Unit award. After returning home in 1970 he later joined the Air National Guard with Barnes 104th Tactical Fighter Wing in Westfield. He served 32 years as a guardsman and a full-time technician in life support. He deployed to Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and many other awards.
Tex is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Kuzmeski) Jackson of 55 years of Easthampton; his daughters Kimberly Jackson and Wendy Jackson Snape of South Hadley; his son-in-law Darrin Snape of Southampton; his brother Charles Jackson and sister Barbara Jackson of Texas.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters Debbie and Peggy Jackson of Texas.
A walk-through visitation will be held at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Rd, Northampton, MA on Wednesday January 27th from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
Burial will be private.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and are not permitted to congregate in the funeral home or parking lot, and are respectfully asked for no physical contact with the family.
