Garland Lee, 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
Garland was born on August 17, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his formal education from Memphis Public Schools (Douglass High School). After graduation, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for most of his military career, where he developed a lifelong love for respiratory medicine. Garland worked as a licensed Chief Respiratory Therapist for many years for various hospitals, medical facilities, and was employed with Hermann Healthcare System, treating home health patients in until his retirement in 2012.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Lee and Willie Echols; his sister Mary Echols; and his brothers, Lawrence Lee. Curtis Lee, and Robert Echols.
Garland is survived by his children, Yasir (Jennifer) Mutee and Javon Christopher Lee; adopted son Adam (April), Conroe, TX; his sister Frankie (Ronald) Dunlap; brother William Earl (Joyce) Echols; Johnny "Junior" (Deborah) Echols; grandchildren Yasir A. Mutee, Braylon Mutee, adopted grandchildren Heather, Alex, Nick (Conroe, TX), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Garland loved music, to cook, spend time with his loved ones, and play chess. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his unwavering love and support for all who knew him. His life was a blessing to us all, full of love, laughter, wisdom, and friendship leaving behind a profound impact on our lives.
