SOUTH BEND-Gale D. Johnson also known as Skipper, 75, passed away March 15, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She was born November 24, 1945 in Linton, IN to Roy & Gale (Vaughn) Klein.
On 01/05/1973 she married the love of her life Darrell Johnson; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 daughter, Mary Ann.
Surviving is 1 son, Roman Johnson, her cat, Pepsi and numerous other family members.
Gale among other things was a store manager at her mom's Burger Dairy for many years, a member of Northway Church and of the Scarlett Belles Red Hat Society. She was an animal lover and for years raised bunnies though Sleepy Hollow Rabbitry that she owned. Most dear to her heart was her husband, son and all of her family. As a child she loved spending time with extended family and neighbors, traveling to their homes and attending family get togethers. As an adult she loved to travel, eat out when possible or just enjoying time with the people she loved and her cat. Gale overcame numerous adversities and health issues in her life, her strength and spirit were an inspiration and she will be missed.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 12 Noon celebration of life service Saturday, March 27th, 2021 at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.
Burial will be held privately at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Small Animal Rescue, Inc. a rescue based non-profit in South Bend, Indiana. Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
