Beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother Frieda Cohen Kowalsky, 96, of Livingston, passed away peacefully June 6th. Born in Newark in 1926, she was proud of her Newark roots. Frieda married the love of her life, Ben Cohen in 1946, and was with him until his untimely death in 1977. In 1983, she was lucky in love again and married Herb Kowalsky and resided in Edison, N.J. as well as Sunny Isles, Florida, until his death is 1997. Frieda was pre-deceased by her siblings Eve Fisher, Fran Glass, Mildred Bendavid, and Bernie Schneiderman. She leaves her two beloved sons, Marc Cohen (Miriam) of Roseland and Gary Cohen (Larry Gard) of Chicago. Also surviving are her grandchildren Ben, Ross, Alexis, Nanci, and Blair and great grandchildren Bryce, Liv, Brielle, and Hailey. Frieda was also a dear aunt and friend. Funeral services are Thursday, June 9th at 12 noon at J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels, 486 Pompton Avenue, in Cedar Grove. Interment to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
