Frieda Mae King, 94, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed from this life at 3:43 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at her home.
Mrs. King was born January 17, 1927, in Brown County, Indiana, the loving daughter of Alva N. and Clara E. Howard West. On October 2, 1949, in Whiteland, Indiana, Frieda married Lawrence L. King; he preceded her in death November 12, 2001.
Mrs. King retired from Western Electric in 1982 after 26 years of service. She was a member of The Indianapolis Baptist Temple and she loved her flowers and working in her yard.
Mrs. King is survived by several nieces and nephews and two cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Clara West; her husband, Lawrence; brothers, Michael, Ernest, Glenn, James, Ivan and Ferrel West; and sisters, Mildred Mobley and Gledith Smith.
The funeral service honoring Mrs. King's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; Pastors Matt Roller and Ellery Hunsley will officiate.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
Mrs. King will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
