Fredrick Raymond Smith a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed on November 23, 2021 at his daughter's home in Toledo, Washington.
He was born on December 13, 1936 in Woodburn, Oregon the son of Fred and Dorothy (Hodges) Smith, eventually the young family made their way north to settle in the Sedro-Woolley area.
Fred always wanted to be a truck driver, so along with working the family farm and haying with his brother, Tony, he worked for a local business driving truck delivering. The two brothers eventually became partners in their log truck company and Fred operated the log truck for local timber companies over 40 years until the day he retired, while both brothers maintained and kept the most pristine log truck in the county.
He was united in marriage to Maledia Self in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and for over 50 years they called Sedro-Woolley home.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Tammy Brendicke of Toledo, WA; brother (& Best Friend) and his wife, Tony & Leona Smith, of Sedro-Woolley; niece and her husband, Tana Smith-Skaugrud and Eric of Sedro-Woolley; brother-in-law and his wife, Von & Irma Self of Omak (Riverside), WA; son-in-law, Jim Ovenell of Burlington, WA; granddaughters, Cristina Brendicke and Jennifer Brendicke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving daughter, Charlene Ovenell; his devoted loving wife, Maledia "Lete".
Private Interment services will be held at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers, to Valley Baptist Church, PO Box 267, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 in honor of Fred.
A special Thank You to Pastor Harold Thornbrough for his devotion of 3 1/2 years of Wednesday afternoon calls to Fred after the passing of Maledia and all that prayed for him, it was of great comfort to him.
