Fredrick Windsor Scott, 84, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born on April 4, 1937 in Morganton, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Edgar B Scott and Ruby Branch Scott.
He was survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joretta Walker Scott, and his daughters Julie Kimbel(Jeff) and Sherri Crawford (Steve); as well as 3 grandchildren, Morgan Kimbel Hucker, Tyler Crawford, and Bryce Crawford.
Fred was a devoted husband and father and mentor to many. His true pride and joy was his grandchildren and was very influential in their lives. He received his degree from Western Carolina University in 1955, where he had 4 successful football seasons. After college, he moved to Cartersville to begin teaching. Fred was highly revered for his coaching and teaching career as Head Football Coach at Cartersville High school from 1958-1970. He was a proud member of the ROMEO group, many of which were his former football players and students. He was a talented craftsman, often found working in his wood shop and building furniture. He loved gardening, and was passionate about his many varieties of day lilies and tomatoes that he shared with many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at Heritage Baptist Church in Cartersville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Heritage Baptist, with a service to follow at 3:00 pm.
