Fredrich "Ray" Hill, age 86 of Dallas, went to his heavenly home on August 26, 2021. He was a Christian, a respected businessman, community leader, husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Hill and Isabel Gundersen Hill, one brother Irving Hill, and son Todd Hill. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Peggy Rucker Hill; one daughter Scherrie Bryant (Jim) of Lansing, Michigan, son Tim Scheu (Kathy) of Glen Rose, Texas; son Ted Hill (Carrie) of Dallas, son Robert Rucker Hill (Rebecca) of Ft Collins, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilshire Baptist Church sanctuary.
Ray was born to parents Harold and Isabel Hill, on January 26, 1935 in Staten Island, New York. After high school he enrolled in the US Air Force Flying Training Command. After serving 4 years in the Air Force he received his Bachelor of Science degree from NYU. Ray moved to Dallas and there he met the love of his life Peggy while they both worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Ray was the ultimate expert in the employee benefits business having started both The Insurance Managers and Life Benefits. Upon retirement he had over 50 years in the insurance business.
Always known for his love of Lake Highlands and the betterment of his community, Ray was an active and integral part of the Lake Highlands Exchange Club for many years serving as the club President in 1990 as well as the Texas District Exchange Club President in 1993-1994. In 2010 the Greater East Dallas Chamber awarded Ray with their Chairmen's Award in recognition of his service.
