Frederick William Mingledorff, Jr. died July 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Savannah on April 13, 1924 and grew up in Hinesville. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at 18. He had a very active life in the military, and later was very active in the Hinesville community in various civic and veteran organizations. He owned Hinesville Ford for 57 years before retiring at age 92. He moved to Savannah in 1989 and was a communicant of St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Skidaway Island.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Reverend Patty Schirm Mingledorff of Savannah; two daughters, Ellen Mingledorff Gay of Savannah and Doris Bright Mingledorff and her husband, Kenneth Boyd Brower of Greenville, SC; a son, Frederick William Mingledorff, III and his wife, Suzanne Harris Mingledorff of Colonel's Island; six grandchildren, Alison Stall (Daniel), Joshua Hunter Gay, William Young Mingledorff (Skylar), Benjamin Everett Mingledorff, and Larry McKinley Rowland, III; and one great-granchild, Jaxon William Stall.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 5 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Skidaway Island.
