Fred is preceded in death by his previous wife Carol, parents Eleanor and Sanford Littenberg, mother and father-in-law Gloria and Bill Hoffmann.
Frederick, affectionately known as Freddie, or Opa, spent his early years in NY and NJ before relocating to Lancaster, SC, in 1979. He resided there until the passing of his second wife, Carol, with whom he shared 37 wonderful years. Following this, Fred remarried and settled in Rock Hill, SC, where he spent the last nine years of his life with his wife, Celia Johnson.
Fred dedicated many years to his career as a credit manager. In his 50's, he went back to school to earn a bachelor's degree. Upon retirement, he found fulfillment working with Samaritan's Purse and served at Hope House in Lancaster and Rock hill. A man of faith, Fred converted from Judaism to Lutheranism and was an active member of his church community throughout his life.
In his younger years, Fred was passionate about serving others, participating in community theater, and celebrating life with friends and family. He had a deep affection for his pets and enjoyed spending time with them. In his later years, he and Celia also found joy in traveling, games with friends and family. He always had to have golf, tennis, or football playing on the TV. No matter the circumstance, Freddie always managed to add humor to the situation, and a warm hug. He will be remembered fondly.
A celebration of Frederick's life will be held on December 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2115 Celanese Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Samaritan's Purse.
