Frederick Crawford Levens, age 93, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and passed away peacefully on December 2, 2022. He was the son of Mary Carroll and Henry C. Levens of Baldwin, New York. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 59 years, Joan Lawlor Levens in November, 2011 and his son, Frederick c. Levens Jr. in October, 2021.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 28, 1929. He attended South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York where he excelled in football and track. He is a graduate of Hofstra University and served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lt.
Infantry during the Korean War. He retired from the IBM Corporation after 37 years. He worked in both sales and management positions throughout his career in the United States, as well as in Hong Kong. In his retirement he enjoyed playing cards with his friends, watching football and interacting with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Nassau Country Club in NY for 17 years; a member of the Wyncote Yacht Club in NY for 8 years where he spent many enjoyable summers out on the water; a member of the Long Cove Club on Hilton Head SC for 24 years where he was an avid golfer; and was also a proud member of the Hilton Head Sons of the American Revolution. His is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Joan Pierce (son-in-law Frederick) of Bluffton, SC; his daughter, Lizanne DiStefano (son- in-law Anthony) of South Windsor, CT; grandchildren Michael DiStefano of Baltimore, MD, Ryan DiStefano of Denver, CO and Kelly DiStefano of Salt Lake City, UT.
Private family burial will be at Six Oaks Cemetery, Hilton Head, SC.
