Frederick "Marlon" Hicks, 53, passed away on December 28th at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. Marlon was born on January 12, 1968, in Cherokee County in Canton, Georgia to Lamar and Carol Hicks. Marlon attended Cherokee High School and graduated in 1986. After graduating, Marlon joined the United States Air Force. Marlon met Deborah Lynne Hicks in Dover, Delaware in 1991 and they married a couple years later on September 18th, 1993. They moved to Alaska in January of 2002 and resided in Chugiak. Marlon served in the military in Aerospace Ground Equipment Management for 22 1/2 years, retiring in April of 2010. After retiring from the military, he worked at CH2MHill until 2015. He loved to take long rides on his Harley. He enjoyed dip-netting off his boat on the Kenai. Marlon enjoyed supporting his children and attending all their sporting events throughout the years.
Family states, "Marlon was a loving husband, a wonderful dad to 2 beautiful children, and an amazing son. He was taken from us way too soon but, has accomplished a lot in his life and has traveled all over the world with the military. He will be missed beyond words."
Marlon is survived by his wife, Debora L. Hicks of Chugiak, AK; son Trevor C. Hicks of Bozeman, Montana; daughter Ashley B. Hicks of Chugiak, AK; parents Lamar and Carol Hicks of Ballground, GA; sisters Kim Hicks-Wheeling and Tanya Hicks of Ballground, GA; father-in-law Charles Spragg and mother-in-law Carol Spragg both of Dover, Deleware; and beloved dog Toby. Marlon is preceded in death by nephew Wesley Wheeling.
A service will be held later this year in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
