Frederick H. Hebert passed away at Laurel Place Assisted Living in Hudson on Sunday, December 18th at the age of 94. He passed during his favorite time of year with his Christmas tree lighted. Fred was born on October 3, 1928 and was raised in Nashua by his parents Joseph A. Hebert and Gertrude M. (Schellenger) Hebert.
He attended Nashua schools and graduated from Nashua High School Class of 1947. Fred joined the Naval Reserves upon graduating from high school and went on to serve in the Reserves for several years. He joined the Public Service Company of New Hampshire in 1952 and through his 35 years with the company served as the District Manager for Milford, Nashua, and Manchester. During his career he was an active Rotarian and served on the Board of Directors of the Granite State Credit Union. He was a member of the Ancient York Lodge No.89 for 71 years.
Fred and his wife, Mary L. (Wilson) Hebert, moved to Hudson in 1955 where they raised their two sons. He was active in town affairs having served as Chairman of the Budget Committee and the Recreation Committee. He felt strongly about being a good role model for his sons serving as Pack Leader for Cub Scout Pack 21, Troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop 21, coaching youth basketball and the Rodgers Brothers Little League team.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He valued the importance of personal accountability, a strong work ethic and not quitting when things became difficult. Fred cherished the time spent with his family at his camp on Lake Winnipesaukee. His grandchildren were treated to boat rides to Wolfeboro for breakfast and learning how to water ski. He was happiest when he was on the dance floor with Mary. In his later years, he would often say that he had led a wonderful life.
He was predeceased by, the love of his life, his wife of 54 years Mary L. (Wilson) Hebert; his two sisters Muriel Wolf Steger and Marjorie Pinet March. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Frederick R. Hebert and his wife Martha of New Harbor, Maine and Peter W. Hebert and his wife Teri of Merrimack; his six grandchildren Cyrus P. Hebert (Laurie) of Merrimack, Stacy A. Austin (Jeff) of Amherst, Joseph R. Hebert of Nashua, Emily Hebert Gregory (John) of Washington D.C, Cara C. Hebert of Boston and Frederick D.
