
Freddy Joe Hairell
Freddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Master Mason and an eighteen- year veteran who served in the National Guard. Freddy dedicated his entire career to public service as a law enforcement officer.
The W. T. Funeral Chapel announces that a funeral service will be held at the Union Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m. for Freddy Hairell, interment will follow at the Skirum Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15th from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel. The Dekalb County Sheriff's Department will serve as Honor Guard and pallbearers. The Fort Payne Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Freddy Hairell, 58, of the Skirum community (formerly of Fort Payne) passed away at his home on December 11, 2015. Freddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Freddy is survived by his wife, Gina Kelly Hairell; children: Katelyn Kelly Hairell, Josh Hairell (Rainsville), Heather Smith (Loganville, Georgia), and Kristen Anderson (Tuscaloosa); brother, Ray Odell (Grant); sister-in-law, Jill Kelly (Skirum); and five grandchildren.
Freddy was a Master Mason in Dekalb Lodge # 116 FundefinedAM and an eighteen- year veteran who served in the National Guard. Freddy was a proud member of the Fort Payne Police Department where he retired with the rank of lieutenant after serving for twenty-six years. In addition, Freddy served as a Deputy with the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department for six years. Freddy dedicated his entire career to public service as a law enforcement officer and enjoyed exchanging work-related stories with his former colleagues following his retirement.
Freddy was a dedicated family man who was a common fixture at his daughter Katelyn’s activities. He was a member of the Union Grove Church, where he felt welcome and a part of a special church family. He was also an avid supporter of Crossville School and a enthusiastic fan of all Crossville sports.
