Freddie R. Marks, 81, of Mercersburg, PA passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, after a long battle with health issues. Born on February 8, 1942, in Hancock, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph H and Marian R. (Smith) Marks.
Freddie worked and retired from Volvo (Mack) Truck in 2007. His love of dirt track racing, Nascar and antique cars was known by many. He became known for his daily walks around town stopping to talk to everyone.
He is survived by his wife Barbara D. Marks whom he married on November 11, 1961; two children: Darryl R. Marks (Danielle), Regina L Marks-Lee (James), one grandchild, Sean C. F. Marks and eight siblings; Steven Marks, Virginia Jenkins, Marian (Robyn) Mattress, Delores Price, Nancy Jones, Catherine (Jackie) Dawson, Charles (Eddie) Marks and Philip (Wayne) Marks and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert (Bobby) Marks, Joseph Marks, Jr., Reginald (Butch) Marks and one sister, Carolyn (Tater) Shaffer.
A viewing will be 6-8 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg, PA. A graveside service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday August 16, at Zion Union Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA with Reverend Marilyn Hubbard officiating.
