Fred L. Hart, 85, of Linton, IN, passed from this life, on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Glenburn Home. He was born on August 16, 1933, in Daviess County, IN, to William A. and Mary Ruth (Smith) Hart. On May 23, 1959, he took Janet S. Walton to be his wife.
Fred served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He later worked as an electrician with McCords and Regal Beloit Company for many years and retired in 1998. Fred attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a cheerful and witty gentleman, who enjoyed meeting new people and making friends; he never met a stranger. Fred spent his leisure time gardening, woodworking and spending quality time with family members.
Family left to cherish Fred's memory include: his wife, Janet; a son, Steve (Lora) Hart of Mitchell; 2 daughters, Kim (Jack) Lashlee of Mitchell and Lisa (Tom) Andis of Linton; grandchildren: Ashley (Anthony) Wagner, Aleta Hart, Stephanie (Shannon) Jones, Scott Smoot, Casey (Lindsay) Andis, Kelsey (Jace) Snodgrass, Darcy (Eli) Passen, Ariel (Stephen) Easton, Sara Van Hoy and Doug Van Hoy; 10 great grandchildren; a brother; Ray O. (Martha) Hart of Odon; a sister, Margaret (Ralph) Dailey of Worthington; and a brother-in-law, Harold Helderman.
Fred was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, Donald Hart and John T. Hart; and 4 sisters, Beulah Nolting, Zelma Helderman, Betty Birt and Marilyn Scott.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at the Meng Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton, with Rev. Paul Sweet officiating. Fred will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion, Post #22.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30th, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
