Reverend Fred H. Babb, aged 88, passed away Friday December 24th, 2021. Fred was born April 8, 1933 in El Paso, Texas. He dedicated his life in service to others through Presbyterian ministry; first in Arkansas, then more than four decades in Texas until retirement.
He graduated from Austin College on a choir scholarship, then attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, attaining a Masters in Divinity. He was called first to Lake Village, then Jacksonville, Arkansas where he helped build a new building for the 1st Presbyterian Church. Then he served in North Dallas, first serving as a pastor then as camp director for Briarwood Retreat Center. He also served as camp director at Ferncliff Retreat in Arkansas and then pastor of 1st Presbyterian Church in Junction, Tx. After 'honorable retirement' he remained active, filling interim pulpits well into his eighties, even holding services at his independent living complex during the 2020 pandemic lockdown.
He is preceded in death by his wife Yvonne and his brother Gene. He is survived by children Paul Babb (Lisa), David Babb (Nan), Robert Dyer (Pinky), Johnny Dyer (Donna), Donna McFatter (Donnie), Tommy Dyer (Mindy), 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held 10 AM Friday Jan 14th at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Interment will follow 10 AM Saturday Jan 15th at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas.
