Franklin Delano Gordon, Sr., 87, the widower of Martha Kate Freeman Gordon, departed his life on Thursday evening, January 13, 2022 at Saluda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Saluda, SC.
Franklin "Tank" Delano Gordon, Sr. was born in Edgefield, SC, the son of the late Willie Douglas Gordon and Lillie Phillips Gordon. At an early age, he joined Pleasant Lane Baptist Church and served faithfully as a Deacon and member of the Pleasant Lane Male Chorus.
Franklin was the owner and operator of Gordon Logging until his health failed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his devoted children, daughter, Syneta (James) Powell of North Augusta, SC; three sons, Franklin D. (Deloris) Gordon, Jr, Bruce A(Brenda) Gordon; and Leon (Louvenia) Gordon all of Edgefield, SC; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. two sisters Ethel "Dolly" Long of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Katerina Brown of District Heights, MD; a brother Ronnie Gordon, Edgefield, SC; 2 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of his life will be 11 A.M., Saturday, 1/22/22 at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Melvin Searles will be the Eulogist and Rev. Melvin Gordon, presiding. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M.
Viewing will be 1-6 pm Friday at the funeral Home.
