Franklin E. Burkhart, 95 of Reddington, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. He was born February 5, 1926 in Coe, Indiana to Floyd and Margaret Jones Burkhart. He grew up in Petersburg, Indiana and served in the US Navy. He married Dorothy Kingery on August 27, 1947 in Petersburg and she precedes him in death. He drove truck for many years. He was baptized at Reddington Christian Church and was a member there for 40 years. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a former member of the American Legion. Frank was an avid artist, loved to fish, hunt and camp. He also loved to play Eucre. He built an old Peterbilt truck from the ground up and was featured in the Overdrive magazine.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, his daughter, Leandra Kaye Burkhart, and two sisters, Betty McCrary and Francis McCrary. Surviving to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Joanna Bishop Goens (Tony Kidd), and Franklin A. (Lisa) Bishop, great-grandchildren, Geddy Goens, Garth Goens, Gavin Goens and Tyler Bishop and great-great-grandchildren, Gabriella Goens, Grayson Goens and Zainen Goens.
Friends may visit with Frank's family from 9-11 AM Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, IN 47274 with the funeral being held at 11 am with Pastor Scott Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Ackeretts Chapel Cemetery in Reddington.
Memorials may be given in Frank's memory to Ackeretts Chapel Cemetery through Burkholder Chapel.
