Frank J. Barbara was born April 4, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York and he passed away peacefully, in his sleep, in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15, 2024 in Stanley, North Carolina. Frank worked for the DOT of New York State for 35 years. He proudly served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War. Frank was an avid golfer and hunter. He loved being out in the woods. Frank especially loved dancing with his dear wife, Ann.
Frank was also active in the communities where he lived. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, The Elks Club, The Italian American Club, where he was a past President. He also held membership at local golf courses in Watertown, NY and Orlando, FL.
Frank was a family man. He enjoyed watching his sons play baseball, he watched his grandchildren pass their swimming tests and he taught his children and grandchildren how to shoot a gun. Frank was a passionate coach. He led St. Anthony's basketball team in a 64 game winning streak. Frank touched many lives and he is truly missed.
Frank is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann (Callahan) Barbara; his sons; Frank "Joe" Barbara and his wife, Pam, James "Jim" Barbara and his wife, Lina and his daughters; Michelle "Mike" Brown and her husband, David and Teresa Bishop. He leaves behind his 12 grandchildren; Phyl Ann, Terra, Andrew, David, Nick, Gina, Joey, Joshua, Amanda, Jamie, Christina Ann and Kellie. His legacy includes 17 great-grandchildren. His sister, Ginny Barbara also survives.
Frank was preceded in death by his son Phillip Anthony Barbara, his parents Emil "Bob" Barbara and Mary (Surace) Barbara and his brothers, Michael Barbara and Larry Barbara.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at All Saints Catholic Church, 27396 Madison Street, Chaumont, NY.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations are made in Frank's name to the charity of your choice.
