Francis Madigan Webster, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Frank was a loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle, and a wonderful friend who will be dearly missed.
Frank was born in Corning, New York on September 15, 1949 to John Mahlon Webster and Mary Madigan Webster. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's Parochial School, and Corning-Painted Post East High School. He studied at Niagara University, NY (BA French & MS Education) and SUNY Buffalo, NY (MS Library Science).
Frank taught French and Social Studies in Elizabethtown, New York; was a Librarian at Niagara University, 1977-1987, and a Senior Librarian at Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, 1987-2011.
Since his retirement in 2011, Frank resided in Wilton Manors, Florida with his longtime friends and extended family, Robert C. Schmidt and R. Kevin Souther.
Surviving are his loving sister, Anne W. Iskandar, and husband, Reda, two nephews, Michael Iskandar and Andrew (Azita) Iskandar, and great niece, Esme Iskandar; sister-in-law, Carol T. Webster, nephew, Adam Webster, niece, Allison (Matt) Debo, great niece, Madigan Debo, and great nephew, Henry Debo (Hank); and cousins, Mary C. Moran Smith and Meg (Don) Nyberg. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas M. Webster.
We will miss Frank's sense of humor, his perspective on life, his recollections of Corning, and most of all, his memories of family. Just two years & four months older than his sister, he was the best of big brothers. Many happy summers were spent walking to Denison Park pool, riding bikes, and playing marathon ball games while our little brother, Tom, tried to keep up. He enjoyed tracing our family history and sharing his findings. Frank loved his home in Florida and time spent with Bob & Kevin.
Frank will always be remembered; his loss felt too soon.
