Francis "Frank" M. DeFelice, Sr., 73, of Cromwell, passed away Wednesday (January 6, 2021) at Hartford Hospital. A native and longtime New Britain resident, he lived in Cromwell since 2005. Frank was a graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1965 and was a US Army veteran. Frank served with the New Britain Police Department for 30 years, retiring as Detective Sergeant. He also worked part time as a mechanic at Hank's Automotive and Beckman's Garage; was a Substitute Teacher at E.C. Goodwin Technical School and was a Judicial Marshal for the Hartford Lockup. He also ran the New Britain Clock Repair Service for many years. He loved cooking and also worked for Kensington Market's Catering service. Frank was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Divine Providence Parish in New Britain; The Generale Ameglio Italian Civic Association; the Italian Fraternal Society; the Austrian Donau Club; the Northwest Veterans TGM Post; the "Good Ole Boys" Club; and the Portalana Club in Hartford.
Frank is survived by his three daughters, Marjorie Aucoin and her companion Francis Keating of Kensington; Catherine Lentini and her husband Kiley Palmer of Southington; and Audra Casella and her husband Dean Casella Sr. of Marlborough; his Fiancee, Pamela (Brown) Bonney-Wikiera of Cromwell; a step daughter, Meghan Bonney of Portland; a brother, Santo DeFelice Jr. and his wife Lyne of Bristol; 8 grandchildren, Tyler (Sara) Lentini, Mallorie (Guy) Ferrelli, Kyle (Rachel) Lentini, Christopher (Jessica) Aucoin, Jared Lentini, Francesca Casella and step grandsons Gabriel Rodriguez and Aiden Bonney ; four great granddaughters, Mia Aucoin, Eleanora Ferrelli, Zoey Aucoin and Olivia Lentini ; several nieces , nephews and cousins. Also left to morn is his former wife, friend and mother of his four children, Audrey G. DeFelice. Frank was predeceased by a son, Francis M. DeFelice Jr., a granddaughter and three great grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11 AM at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain. Please go directly to the church. There are no calling hours. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prudence Crandall Center, 594 Burritt Street, New Britain, CT 06050 or to the CT Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
