Dr. Francis Wade Callicutt, 98 of West Memphis, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Willowbend Health and Rehabilitation in Marion, Arkansas. He was born on July 23, 1922 to Erastus Sylvester and Bettie Roella Callicutt.
Dr. Callicutt spent over 30 years in school administration, retired as superintendent of Fayette County Tennessee School System. He joined the Navy before Pearl Harbor and was a WWII Veteran in the Navy. He was a member of the VFW Post #5225 and of First Baptist Church in West Memphis. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, reading and searching family genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Betty K. Callicutt, one brother Earl Callicutt and two sisters; Virginia Leviner and Joyce Luther.
He is survived by one son; Forrest Wade (Donna) Callicutt of Huntsville, Alabama, one daughter; Elizabeth Jane (Charles) McNeely of Marion, Arkansas, five grandchildren; Charles Howard McNeely, Van Michael McNeely, Amanda Gail Callicutt, Catherine Anne Byrd, Timothy Wade Callicutt and six Great-Grandchildren.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the local Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet is recommended for outdoor services and all funeral attendees are requested to wear masks.
