Francis Hail Brown of Haslet, TX, formerly of Hope, RI, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the age of 89, at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of late, Gail C. Brown, Mande E. Brown, and Cheryl A. Brown. Born in Warwick, on December 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Francis H. Brown and Susanne R.L. Brown.
Francis was an accomplished businessman as well as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He began his career after graduating from URI with a science degree in Phy Ed at the YMCA. He worked with youth groups and mentored many young boys. He did a 4-year stint in the Army and received his schooling in dentistry where he became a Lab Technician making teeth for Dr. Johnson and enjoyed building homes on the side. He married and moved his family to Gordon, TX and bought a 5k-acre ranch in 1960. It was 8 years later he moved back to New England because of his son's health condition, though his heart was in ranching he pursed other avenues. He went back to dentistry until all his children were in high school and once again moved to Stephenville, TX where he opened the Brown's Family Foods Grocery stores. He also started Brown's Landscaping which became very successful! He moved back to his home once again in Warwick, RI. There he chose to go into the Bakery business at Shaw's Grocery Store for ten years before retiring to take care of his wife Mande. In his free time, he enjoyed singing in chorales and church and traveling. Francis was a devoted husband, father and friend and was respected by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial "Celebration of Life" on the 23rd of July on Saturday at 10:00 am Cranston Christian Fellowship church. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
