Frances Hughes Stewart, age 100, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2022 at The Dixon House in Easton where she had resided since November 2021.
Frances (known to many as Franny) was born on September 26, 1921 to William F. Hughes and Anna Kragenbrink. She met James E. Stewart (Jimmy) in 1940 and they married on November 23rd of that year. They made their home in Reids Grove and raised their five daughters there. They were married for 61 years when Jimmy passed in 2001.
Frances was a homemaker most of her life. She worked briefly with her daughter Pat in a medical office in Salisbury. She also was secretary for her husband's construction business until he retired. Frances was of the Methodist faith and attended church regularly.
Frances celebrated her 100th birthday in September 2021 with family and friends at Reids Grove Methodist Church.
Frances is survived by her five daughters; Pam Collison (Clifford) of Woolford, Pat Poole (Ronnie) of Laurel, Sharon Hughes (Mark) of Cambridge, Judy Biskach of Hurlock and Penny Wheatley (Bobby) of East New Market; her grandchildren Chris Collison, Sr., Brent Keene, Chuck Collison, Mark Keene, Tammy Parham, Melissa McAllister, and Louis Biskach, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances is preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Ruth Foxwell and Rebecca (Becky) Brinsfield and son-in-law Louis Biskach, Sr.
A memorial service will be on held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00PM at Reids Grove United Methodist Church where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Reids Grove United Methodist Church,c/o Betty Wilson, 5314 Rhodesdale Vienna Road, Rhodesdale MD 21659 or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 205 Maryland Avenue, Cambridge MD 21613.
Arrangements are in the care of Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market.
