Frances Lilian Chiz passed away April 28, 2020 after a hard fought battle with Covid 19. She was born on June 18, 1931in Springfield to the late Molly and George Aronson. Raised in Springfield, she was a member of the Classical High School graduating class of 1949. After high school she graduated from The Leland Powers School of Broadcasting in Rhode Island and returned to Springfield to host a local radio program. She then married and raised three sons. During her career, she worked as a bookkeeper for Mass Mutual, then a decade as the accounts payable manager for Paysaver Catalogue Showrooms of Holyoke, and a property manager for Carr Properties in Springfield. After living many years in Longmeadow, she retired to enjoy condo living in Agawam. Frances spent time keeping connections with her high school classmates, and loved organizing and participating in reunions. In addition, she had a lifetime love of all things musical, keeping scrapbooks of many events, but none more than her favorite entertainer and good friend Robert Goulet. Frannie (as her nieces and nephews called her) loved doing all kinds of puzzles and knitting. Many of her crochet works still adorn the homes of her children. Her three grandchildren were her greatest joy, always showering them with love and attention. Frances is predeceased by her sister Gloria Mador. She is survived by her three sons; Lawrence Chiz and his partner Adam Maxfield of Chicopee, James Chiz of Longmeadow, Michael and Dana Chiz of Longmeadow. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Adam Joseph Chiz of Agawam, Abigail Molly Chiz, and Leo Garrison Chiz of Longmeadow. Lastly she leaves a niece and a nephew, Susan Burnim of Sommerville and Paul Mador of Nahant, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews. The Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
