Let us pray in thanksgiving for the life of our brother, Fr. Harold Sanford, S.J. who died June 24, 2024, at Colombiere Jesuit Retirement Center, Clarkston, MI. He was 84 years old. Harry is survived by his brother Charles E. Sanford and sister-in-law Fay. He is preceded in death by his parents Juanita Rose Thomason and Leon Horace Sanford. He was born on March 16, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He entered the Missouri Province of the Society of Jesus September 1, 1964, at Florrisant, Missouri. He was ordained a priest on May 3, 1975 at St. Francis Xavier Church, St. Louis, Missouri, and pronounced final vows September 6, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri in Jesuit Hall Chapel. While in the Society of Jesus, Harry earned a master's degree in chemistry and physics Kanas State Teacher's College, Kansas City. He also earned a Bachelor Degree of Nursing from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout his Jesuit life, Harry taught in high schools in Kansas City, Missouri, Belize City, Belize and at St. Louis University High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He practiced nursing in Fusz Pavilion Jesuit Community in St. Louis, Missouri, at Westwind Campus of Care, Pueblo, Colorado and Colombiere Center, Clarkston, Michigan. He also served as Pastoral Minister in Pueblo, Colorado at Mt. Carmel St. Anne Parish, Pueblo, Colorado. Harry was a devoted Priest and nurse throughout his life caring passionately for those he met and cared for. He also treasured his time as a Science Teacher at St. Louis University High School. Visitation on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4PM until the time of Wake Service at 7PM at Colombiere Center, 9075 Big Lake Rd., Clarkston, MI. Funeral Mass Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:30AM at Colombiere Center. The Wake and Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Colombiere's YouTube channel.
