Fortunato V.C. Santos (aka Ve, Otto), passed away on January 1, 2023.
He was born in Manila, Philippines on May 26, 1935. He received a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Philippines (1956) and worked for PMC / Proctor & Gamble (Asia) in the Research Department for 12 years. Upon immigrating to the United States, he worked for Helene Curtis Industries/Unilever for 27 years (Chicago, IL) as Manager of process engineering. He met Lina Enriquez, in the choir, at St Paul's Methodist Church (Manila). They married in 1962. He enjoyed singing and sang in church choirs, as a tenor, since high school. In retirement, he loved to cruise; sing in the church choir; and volunteer at his church's annual Winter Fest and summer Vacation Bible school. As a Freemason, he received his 3rd degree, Master Mason at Hiram Lodge #88 (Manila,1964). He was a lifetime member of Pleiades Lodge #478, Westchester, Illinois, and a member of HI Twelve International, The Villages, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lina Santos; Daughters A. Arleene Bowles (Sean), and Vinna Gale Brooks; Son Roman Abel Santos; Granddaughters Tya Marie Jablonski (Joe) and Courtney Leanne Santos; Grandsons Alexander Norman and RJ Brooks; 3 Great Grandsons Ayden, Thomas and James (Jablonski).
Preceded in death by Son James Daniel; Sisters Abigail Santiago and Bienvenida Militsala; Parents Luis and Melecia Santos; and Brother Luis Ernesto Santos.
Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Community United Methodist Church, 309 College Ave, Fruitland Park, FL. Lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Community United Methodist Church, Fruitland Park or Hospice of Marion County, in memory of Fortunato V.C. Santos would be appreciated.
