Forrest Lee Griffith III, 74, died peacefully and comforted by family at Tufts Medical Center on December 5, 2021 from heart failure. Lee was born on September 3, 1947; grew up in New Canaan, CT with his brother and parents Elizabeth (Betty) Lines Griffith and Forrest Lee Griffith Jr.; and eventually settled with Beth, his wife of 21 years, in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
After graduating from Taft School (1965), Lee attended Williams College (1969) where his deep love of the Berkshire mountains grew. A natural athlete, he captained the football team at Williams, was selected to play in the premier Cape Cod Baseball League, toured Europe playing rugby, and was a member of the Berkshire Mountain Ski Patrol. Lee went on to graduate third in his class at the Boston University Law School (1972), was recruited by the firm of Day, Berry and Howard (Day Pitney), and was included in The Best Lawyers in America, Corporate Practice multiple years during his 43-year tenure.
An active life of fishing, skiing, and running, with friends and family, continued to be his passions, along with music (Dylan, Vetter...!) and the family dogs, particularly Joey. All touched by Lee will most remember his unfailing sense of humor, respect of others, expertise, love of the outdoors, and characteristically genuine kindness.
Lee is survived by his loving and devoted wife Beth Griffith; daughters Amanda, Abigail, and Summer; brother Clark; and grandchildren Murphy, Maggie and Hudson.
Lee's family wishes to particularly thank friend Julie Carlo and the Tufts Medical Center MICU staff for their extraordinary care, kindness, and expertise.
A Celebration of Lee's life will be held in the Berkshires the Saturday before Father's Day of 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee's name to the Hinsdale Fire Department and the ASPCA. Please visit www.dwyerfuneral.com to leave condolences and remembrances.
