Floyd Poholski, 86, of Norton died quietly Sunday, January 10, 2021 at The Arbors at Streetsboro, following a period of declining health.
He was born December 24, 1934 in Rittman to the late Edmund and Mildred (Momcilovich) Poholski and lived in Rittman, Akron and Norton all of his life.
Floyd graduated from Rittman High School in 1952 where he was a star athlete in both football and basketball. He also graduated from The University of Akron in 1958, working his way through college as a Union carpenter and becoming the first of his family to earn a college degree. He later used his carpentry skills to build two family homes. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dora Daniel on September 5, 1954 and they were happily married for over 66 years.
He was employed by Ferriot Inc. for over 30 years, rising to the positions of Manager of Production Control and Purchasing Manager at the time of his 1992 retirement. He attended St. Augustine Church in Barberton and enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Dora; son, Steve (Stephanie) Poholski of Barberton; grandsons, AJ (Samantha) Poholski of Norton and Sean Poholski of Pittsburgh; a brother; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Poholski, a loss from which he never fully recovered.
Private family services have been held. Burial took place at Rittman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
