Floyd Earl Dingess Jr, 76, of McDonough went to be in the loving arms of Jesus Christ on January 3rd, 2022. While we are happy that he is now free from his earthly body but upset at the same time. You see, he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He could have at least waited until the Championship game on Monday to go home. That said, we have the suspicion that he chose to go home early because he didn't want to be disappointed if they lost. However if they do win, it's a great time to go see the Lord because the Braves won the World Series this year as well.
Floyd is survived by Lennie Dingess, his beautiful wife of 55 years, his really good looking and personable son Mark (Joy) Dingess and daughter Jennifer Phillips. His grandchildren, Anna Marie Dingess, Alexandria Dingess, Austin Mark Dingess, Irene Brooks, Matthew Brooks Milanese, Christopher Phillips, Joshua Phillips and Christina Phillips. He also left behind his siblings Gene Dingess (Della), Dan (Sherri)Dingess, and Linda Dingess.
Floyd, who originally came from Huntington, West Virginia but graduated High School at Sylvan High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army for 2 years where he would joke about the extent of his service. In fact, when he met his son's wife Joy for the first time, he told her that he received a purple heart. Of course, she thought he was a hero who was wounded for his great country. Little did she know about the Dingess sense of humor. The next time he saw her, he told her he got it because of a paper cut. He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Factory where he would clock in every day and sit in the break room. He was able to successfully avoid the supervisors long enough to be able to retire after 47 years.
