Florence K. Hamilton, 96, went to her heavenly home on 04/15/2022. She was born 11/26/1925 in Belchertown, MA; the daughter of Emery and Lily (Couture) Thibodeau. Florence graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1943. She married Merle I. Hamilton, Nov. 27 1947 and they celebrated 67 years together. Florence was a child of the depression era and at a young age, learned to sacrifice and make do. At just 16, she was a member of the greatest generation as WWII started. She worked as a telephone operator during the War and later, at New Hampshire Industries and several area retail stores. Florence's greatest joy in life was her family and her love of children. In addition to her seven children, she operated a Day Care for 10 additional children and later ran a successful pre-school for a number of years. The family home on Wheatly St. was usually the gathering spot for most of the neighborhood kids. She loved to cook and homemade doughnut day was a favorite for all. Nothing seemed to phase her and she was always strong and resilient. She never had a problem that she did not face with grace, dignity and an amazing attitude. In later years, she lost her vision, but still lived on her own, making the best of it. Her hearing deteriorated, and she had breathing problems but she still never complained. She always pressed on, saying she was lucky compared to others. Most of all she loved and was devoted to her family instilling them with her values of love, honesty, and integrity. Some have a cup half empty and some half full, mom's cup was usually brimming over, that is how she viewed life. Florence is survived by 7 children: Larry Hamilton (Geri) of Franklin, NH; Dennis Hamilton of Lebanon, NH; Martha Curtis of Keene, NH; John (Becky) Hamilton of Lebanon, NH; Brian (Sherri) Hamilton of Knob Noster, MO; Teresa (Dennis) Smith of Burlington, VT; and David (Christine) Hamilton of Georgia, VT. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Adams, of Lebanon, NH; 17 Grandchildren and 22 Great-Grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Merle, 3 sisters a brother and a grandson.
