Florence Hazel Geuther, 95 of Dover, passed away Saturday August 20, 2022 at Watson Fields.
She was born February 8, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Stanley and Hazel (Miller) Edwards. She graduated from Wilkes-Barre High School and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.
Over the years, until her retirement, Florence worked as a Registered Nurse at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Pennsylvania, Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, Tompkins County Hospital in Ithaca, NY and on Regional Blood Drives for The American Red Cross.
Florence lived in Ithaca, NY for over 40 years where she supported her community through multiple volunteer opportunities including serving as a Hospice volunteer. She was a faithful member of the Danby Federated Church where she was a member of the choir and various church groups. She was also a member of the Ithaca Community Chorus.
Florence moved with her late husband, Darwin, to Rochester, NH in 2002 to be closer to the majority of their children and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Homemakers Health Service, both in Rochester.
She was a special person and a great friend who preferred sending personal hand-written notes to emails. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing, baking, reading, and word puzzles. She instilled in her children the value of volunteerism and putting others ahead of self.
She is survived by her children; Ronald Geuther of Averill Park, NY, Karen (Robert) Graham of Portsmouth, Debbie (Thomas) Brady of Gilford, Mark Geuther of Dover; and Kris Sorensen of Somersworth; her grandchildren, Justin (Brighid) Brady, Ryan Brady, Colleen (Seth) Porter, Jennifer Geuther, Katie Graham, and Stephen Geuther; her great grandchildren, Hazel, Kaylin, and Olive; her sister Mildred Solack; sister-in laws Irene Edwards and Nina Kozak, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Darwin Lewis Geuther, and brothers Stanley Edwards Jr. and Benjamin Edwards.
In lieu of flowers she asked that contributions be made to OperationSmile.org or Cornerstone Visiting Nurses' Association in Rochester, NH.
A Memorial Service is being planned for September 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 902 Portland Street, Rochester, NH.
