Florence Finnicum, Flossie (Rooney) (Ferlic), Age of Mound, MN was proud to be raised in Carroll, IA. She is survived by her 2 fantastic children, Patrick (Kristen) and Kelly Chua (Nate), 5 outstanding grandchildren (Cooper, Adeline, Callaghan, Alexander, Abigail) and 5 loyal siblings & spouses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. & Marcella Ferlic, 1st husband, Dave Rooney, 2nd husband, Neil Finnicum, Sr.
After graduating from Creighton University (BA) and University of Nebraska (MSW), she practiced 34 years of social work at Pillsbury-Waite Neighborhood Services, Mpls Public Schools (Bancroft & Jefferson), and Hennepin County Medical Center (Child Behavior and Learning Clinic). During these years, Flossie was also an associate professor as field work supervisor for many students from Augsburg, St. Thomas and University of MN undergraduate and graduate programs. As a distraction, she was also a nationally ranked Scrabble player during those years.
In retirement, Flossie continued her perennial volunteer role at Our Lady of the Lake Church (especially the Incredible Festival), Carver/Scott Master Gardener program, Westonka Garden Guild, Presbyterian Homes, Docent at the MN Landscape Arboretum, Gillespie Community Center, WeCab driver's program, MN marriage official and Westonka Library.
Travel became her escape -especially to Vegas yearly - in addition, she completed travel to over 100 countries -one time a 4 month cruise around the world to all 7 continents. She edited a monthly newsletter for those cruise mates for over 20 years.
