Florence Mae Bundy was born in Long Prairie, Minnesota, on August 7,1924, to Albert and Ida (Langhoff) Lemke, the seventh of ten children. After graduating from Long Prairie High School, she worked at the local bakery where she served a young farmer named Harold Bundy. The two started dating and were united in marriage on August 24, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church, after which she moved to the farm which she said was the biggest change in her life. She came to love being 10 miles from town and raising their family there. Florence and Harold were blessed with four children, Allan, Kathy, Jim, and Doug.
Florence had a huge garden every summer which required produce to be canned or frozen, as well as beautiful flowers throughout the yard. While never actually milking cows, she washed lots of milkers and was sent on many trips to town to pick up parts at the implement dealer. Florence's greatest enjoyment was being in the kitchen baking goodies or making a delicious meal. She was known for her amazing caramel rolls and great hospitality to anyone who visited.
Florence was a woman of incredible faith, believing that all her troubles would be taken care of by her lord and thanking him for many blessings. She always put others first and showered her children and grandchildren with great love. She was active in the church Ladies circle for more than 70 years and enjoyed being part of the quilting group every winter.
On Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the age of 97 years, Florence was called home to be with her Savior. She will be greatly missed by her children, Kathy (Chuck) Blankenship, Jim (Lynn) Bundy and Doug (Cindy) Bundy, grandchildren, Todd Blankenship, Tren (Michelle) Blankenship, Joy (Jerrod) Hammerback, Kurt (Megan) Bundy, Nathan (Beth) Bundy, Ross (Jennifer) Bundy, Michelle (Derek) Eggert, Kelly (Jason) Biel, 22 great grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
